Our Mission

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Arizona, Inc. (RMHC-SA) is an independent 501 (c)3 non-profit organization in Tucson. RMHC-SA has a license agreement with the global Ronald McDonald House Charities organization.

Our mission is to nurture the health and well-being of children and their families.

RMHC-SA has been in Tucson since 1981. We offer three Core Programs to help children and families in need:

Ronald McDonald House - our signature program - is a 24,000 sq. ft. house to provide a "home-away-from-home" for families from outside Tucson who have critically ill children being cared for at a local medical facility. Some stay for a few days. Some stay for a few months. All stay at no cost thanks to the generous support of our community. On average, 500 families call the Ronald McDonald House their home every year. We are staffed by 10 full-time employees and five part-time employees.

Ronald McDonald Family Room - This is an extension of the Ronald McDonald House. It's a comfortable room within a hospital to give parents with hospitalized children, a place to rest and regroup, get a snack or a fresh cup of coffee, just steps away from their child's bed. We operate two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms located at:

  • Diamond Children's Medical Center at Banner University Medical Center, just outside the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and
  • Tucson Medical Center, just outside the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Ronald McDonald Care Mobile - Our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is in partnership with Chiricahua Community Health Centers, Inc., in Douglas, to bring needed dental care to children throughout Cochise County, who otherwise would not be able to see a dentist.
